Mothersday is coming

Well it’s only a few days away now… And I’m pretty excited!

Most mothers days I go to my Mom’s house and take her out for lunch/dinner and we go to granville island or something of the sort.  This year however it’s something I’ve been wanting to do for years.

My mom has always been (and will always be) one of the most important people in my life and unfortunately I have never had an opportunity to show her all about my true passion in life.  She knows how much I love cars/racing and even photography but has never been able to come out to me and see such an event.  Sunday is the big day!  My mom…. is coming drifting!

This is the track we’ll be driving and she seems pretty excited to come for a ride with me.

I wish everyone could have a mom like mine, and I am thankful every day that she is mine as  I could not have asked for a better one!

Hope everyone has a fantastic mothers day!

Translink – The Death of Vancouver

I’m sure by now most of you would have hear about Translinks recommendation to toll roads/bridges in Vancouver to raise 160 Million Dollars per year in the future.  What I think they fail to realize is that they are already bleeding this city dry with their gas taxes, bridge tolls and a multitude of other cash grab schemes they have implemented.

TransLink has their hands in taxpayers’ pockets all over the place: they already get 15 cents per litre in gas tax ($323.2 million), they get property taxes ($271.8 million, and going up every year), they have a tax on your BC Hydro bill ($18.6 million), they tax parking ($58.4 million), they toll the Golden Ears Bridge ($29.6 million, and they get money from AirCare ($19.5 million). - Taxpayer Blog

For those of you that think it will not affect you as your drive very little or not at all, you are incorrect.  Think of all your goods and services that are transported via vehicles, do you really think the company will absorb that?  It will be added onto the cost and passed onto to you!

I personally believe the time has come for translink to take a major re-think about their strategy around public transportation.  It has already come to the point where people have stopped driving because they cant afford to drive, which means less revenue to translink because they keep taxing the drivers and not the users of public transportation.  If you’re THAT bad at managing your own system then why dont you take the time to put forth a proposal that will actually work within your means rather than just expecting the people of the lower mainland to make up for your incompetence?  We already pay some of the highest living expenses, office space expenses, property expenses in the world and yet our average income is on par with most of the world.  This is truly making Vancouver one of the hardest cities to live in financially.

That’s the end of my rant, but I will say if things continue with translink and their gouging you can be certain I won’t live here for long.

The Vow

Last Night I got invited out to the Premiere of “The Vow” starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams that was hosted by QMFM.

Before the movie they had setup drinks and snacks in the lobby of the new VIP theatre which included things like mozzarella sticks, Quesadillas and deep fried macaroni & cheese!

Onwards and Upwards

For the past 8 months I’ve been working for an online retailer called Wishack, doing everything from web/graphic design to IT and Social media Management.

As of next week I’ll be starting with a new company called 3 Tier Logic creating campaigns and developing social media pages for various clients.  I’m looking forward to the change and getting the chance to work with an old classmate again.
